Tourism, hospitality and events is the fifth business discipline to develop academic learning standards (aka threshold learning outcomes) for bachelors and masters coursework degrees.
After an extensive consultation process with the academic and practitioner communities in Australia, a project team led by Victoria University (and supported by University of Queensland and University of South Australia) released tourism, hospitality and events learning standards for Australian bachelor and coursework masters degrees.
These standards provide a valuable benchmarking resource for business schools - especially when designing degrees or evaluating performance or intended learning outcomes in this discipline and as required under the Higher Education Framework.
The standards will give employers and industry groups a clear understanding of what they could expect from tourism, hospitality and events graduates. On 7 August 2015, ABDC endorsed these standards. Read more.
