The first 2018 meeting of the ABDC International Network will be held at the University of Sydney Business School from 12 noon on Thursday 15 February to 12 noon on Friday 15 February.

Draft Agenda

  1. Overview of the New Colombo Plan
  2. Opportunities and benefits for students – as scholars, as well as through NCP supported mobility programs
  3. The role of business and the private sector in the NCP
  4. Our communication goals – what makes a good NCP story
  5. There will also be a working session on the ABDC International Project ‘What does it mean to be an International Business School in Australia’?

Thursday guest speaker: Michael Bergmann Director Communications and Private Sector Relations New Colombo Plan, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Friday guest speaker: Greg Whitwell, Dean, U Sydney Business School

Travel

If you travelling by public transport in Sydney, you will require an Opal card

If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is Redfern station which is approximately 12-14 min walk from the Business School.

If you are travelling by bus, you will need to alight on City Road, Darlington. Here is a link to the Sydney Buses network.

Parking

Parking in the vicinity of the Business School is fairly limited.

There are paid parking spots in Shepherd Street carpark (8 mins walk to Business School), and in two smaller carparks on campus near the Merewether Building.

There is some all-day street parking on Wilson Street near Carriageworks (5 mins walk to Business School), but spaces are limited.

Street parking in the area is mostly restricted to 1 or 2 hours.

Accommodation

Attendees coming from out of Sydney will pay for their own travel and accommodation. The following hotels are within walking distance of the Business School: 

  • Adina Apartments Chippendale – these apartments are approximately 8 minutes walk from the Business School
  • Quality Apartments Camperdown  – these apartments are approximately 15 minutes walk from the Business School and approximately 10 walk to the    main street in Newtown.
  • The Urban Newtown – this hotel is approximately 20 minutes walk from the Business School but is near to restaurants and bars.
  • Mercure Sydney – this hotel is near Central    Railway Station and 3 kilometres from the Business School
  • Rydges Sydney Central –  this hotel is near Central Railway Station and 3 kilometres from the Business School
